Some plots include a super cool device called a flashback. This interrupts a story's regular chronological order (the normal timeline) by describing what took place at an earlier time.

Why use them? The details of flashbacks help readers better understand the story's current plot developments or why characters act the way they do!

👤 4. Analyze Character Traits

The characters in a short story are the people, animals, or imaginary creatures that take part in the action. Characters have personal qualities known as character traits.

Sometimes the author tells you these traits directly ("He was very brave"), but usually, you have to be a detective! You have to figure out their traits based on what they do.
